There’s some measure of confusion as the Nigerian army and the Nigeria Police Force trade blame over the whereabouts of 56 herdsmen.

The 56 suspects were arrested by the Nigerian Army and a statement from theย Army Public Relations of the Guards Brigade, Capt. Bashir Jajira on April 18 claimed that the herdsmen were found in possession ofย โone pump action gun, 19 cartridge, dane guns, 118 cartridge ammo, 28 cutlasses, three jack knives, 14 sticks, seven torches, Certificate of Occupancy, assorted charms and hard drugs.โ

Capt. Jajira also stated that the herdsmen were handed over toย the Kuje Divisional Police Station, a claim which has now been refuted by the Nigerian police force.

The Nasarawa State Police Public Relations Officer, Ismaila Numan, confirmed on Monday that 36 suspects were handed over to the police command. However, the NPFย Public Relations Officer, Bisi Kolawole has denied receiving the second set of 56 suspects.
โI have made inquiries at the FCT Police Command and what I learnt was that they had yet to receive the suspects,โ she stated.
Fulani herdsmen have been responsible for growing violence in many states in Nigeria with yet another attack in Enugu on Monday leaving 40 people dead.
