Nigerian comedian and former Big Brother Naija star Aderombi Adedayo Martin, better known online as Deeone, has expressed his opinions on the need of acquiring a second citizenship, especially in light of Instagram celebrity Tunde Ednut’s recent celebration of his American citizenship.
After Tunde Ednut shared images on Instagram commemorating his new American citizenship, Deeone replied.
With the US flag in the backdrop, Ednut was pictured carrying his US passport while donning the country’s colours.
He also revealed the Lifetime Achievement Award, a commemorative honour bestowed to him by former President Joe Biden.

Although he thanked Ednut, Deeone said he didn’t think obtaining a second citizenship—especially an American one—should be considered a significant achievement.
Deeone underlined that no citizenship could ever fully replace the significance of one’s origins, and that for Nigerians, the Nigerian passport continues to be an important symbol.
He went on to say that although Tunde Ednut is now an American citizen, his Nigerian heritage has contributed significantly to his riches and professional success.
“Nigerian youths stop celebrating another passport, Congratulations to Tunde Ednut, it is not a bad thing but it is not an achievement, getting another citizenship as a Nigerian no be achievement, if it happens fine, but no go out of your way. Nigerian passport is the best you can have as a Nigerian. Today Tunde Ednut dey celebrate him American citizenship but Nigeria e dey make him money,” Deeone said in the video.
“Nigerian youths getting another citizenship, is not an achievement,” he added in the caption of the video.
