“Avengers: Doomsday” has roared into the spotlight with a thrilling CinemaCon trailer that sees Thor clash with Doctor Doom, Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers wield Mjolnir once more, and the X-Men spectacularly return to the big screen.
Finally, at long last, the Avengers are assembling again! The footage marks a major moment for Marvel fans and theatre owners alike, arriving six years after 2019’s “Avengers: Endgame.”
The trailer opens with Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom, clad in a green hood and metal mask, preparing to invade the multiverse. Trouble brews quickly as Professor Xavier gazes out from the X-Mansion at a mysterious flash of light. What follows is a rapid-fire series of crossovers: Gambit and Shang-Chi in combat, Mystique transforming into Yelena Belova, and Thor confronting Doom, only for the villain to catch Mjolnir with his bare hand.
The biggest surprise comes with the return of Steve Rogers. Reuniting with Thor, Rogers once again proves worthy by lifting the hammer, echoing his defining moment in “Endgame.”
Similar to how “Infinity War” and “Endgame” united multiple factions, “Doomsday” blends the Avengers with the X-Men, Fantastic Four and Thunderbolts. Characters like Mr Fantastic, Invisible Woman and the Human Torch finally interact with the New Avengers, while tensions resurface between Wakanda and Namor’s Talokan forces.
