Chike releases ‘Pity My Soul’ as Sandra Edoho controversy continues

Singer Chike has released a new single titled Pity My Soul alongside his older brother SYEMCA, with the timing of the release drawing widespread attention amid the ongoing controversy linking him to Sandra Edoho.

The song arrives days after blogger Cutie Juls published a leaked audio clip alleging a romantic involvement between Chike and Sandra, the estranged wife of veteran TV host Frank Edoho. Chike has not publicly addressed the claims, a silence that has continued to fuel speculation online.

One lyric in particular has become the centre of online conversation: “whenever you are not in my corner, I pity my soul”.

Many social media users have interpreted the line as a subtle reference to Sandra, whose recent public statements have focused heavily on themes of loyalty, survival and self-preservation.

Others, however, believe the timing is more strategic than emotional, arguing that the singer may simply be taking advantage of the intense public attention surrounding his name to push the record to a wider audience.

The track also shines a spotlight on SYEMCA, born Chukwuemeka Chike-Ezekpeazu, who rose to prominence as a runner-up on season two of The Voice Nigeria and has built a reputation for blending highlife, Afrobeats and classical pop.

Neither Chike nor Frank Edoho has publicly responded further as the controversy continues to unfold.
