Celebrities Speak Up on the Reopening of Cinemas

#SaveCinemas is a new hashtag trending on Twitter, with celebrities coming up, asking the Federal Government to save the entertainment industry and reopen the cinemas.

Nigerian rapper and musician, Falz tweeted, “The entertainment industry must be allowed to gradually get back in business!! Letโ€™s start with cinemas reopening with all safety precautions in place!! #savecinemas #SaveEntertainment @MBuhari @ProfOsinbajo”

Nollywood actress, Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde also spoke out on her Instagram page. She wrote, “I believe cinemas are easier to monitor and regulate. If other indoor places are open, why not the cinemas? Temp checks, masks, distancing etc. We need to work together to ensure safer ways to keep the Arts going. Many livelihoods depend on this. It can and MUST be done as safely as possible. #savecinemas

Apart from celebrities speaking up, we also have the voice of Trino Motion Pictures and other movie production and distribution studios speaking against the continual closure of the cinemas.

Trino Motion Pictures tweeted, “Covid-19 has been hard on a lot of industries and the movie industry was not left out. The cinemas in Nigeria have taken all measures as done globally to ensure that the cinemas are safe to open. Let’s have the cinemas!
