BUHARI NOMINATES OKONJO-IWEALA TO HEAD WTO

President Muhammadu Buhari has nominated Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, the former Minister of Finance as a Director-General of the World Treaty Organization (WTO). This was revealed in a tweet by the Presidential aide on Digital and New Media, Tolu Ogunlesi where he also said that the current Director-General of the World Treaty Organization would be stepping down in August, 2020 which means that the next election for the post of Director-General of the World Treaty Organization would hold sooner than 2021.

Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala is a woman who has distinguished herself in the finance and economic sector. Apart from being the former minister of finance for the country, she has also acted as a managing director at the World Bank. She currently chairs the Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunisation, a public-private global health partnership with the goal of increasing access to immunisation in poor countries. With each giant stride she makes, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala sends the right message to young women to keep being excellent.
