Buhari cleverly sacks Kachikwu

It appears the President has played a clever one. According to a press release, Emmanuel Ibe Kachikwu has been relieved as the group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation and replaced with Maikantiย Baru. In a press statementย issued today in Abuja, the president office stated that Kachikwu as the minister for State for Petroleum will now be the chairman of the Board of the NNPC.

Reactions have trailed the actions of the Presidency as many are accusing him of stylishly putting ‘his own people’ in key positions.

“The chairman of the board of NNPC is a ceremonial role, an office without portfolio”, an obviously angry citizen was quoted as saying.

The Full statement released by the Presidency on the matter is copied below.

Kachikwu however, is yet to comment on the development.
