Bayer Leverkusen’s coach, Xabi Alonso, has confirmed that he will be leaving Leverkusen to join Real Madrid at the end of the 2024/2025 campaign.

Sport journalist Fabrizio Romano made this revelation via a social media post. Fabrizio posted saying:
“Xabi Alonso confirms heโs set to LEAVE Bayer Leverkusen! โItโs time to confirm these will be my final games at Bayerโ, Xabi Alonso saysโฆ Real Madrid’s new coach, soon.
On October 5, 2022, Alonso was appointed as the head coach of Bayer Leverkusen, with a contract running until June 2024. On 4 August, Alonso signed a new contract until 2024.

Xabi Alonso Career at Bayern Leverkusen
Alonso’s Leverkusen set a new record for unbeaten games, surpassing Bayern Munich’s 32 in February 2024.
On April 14, Alonso guided Leverkusen to a 5-0 victory over Werder Bremen, securing their first-ever Bundesliga title and German championship with five matches to spare.
Then, on May 9, he led the team to set a new European record of 49 consecutive unbeaten matches across all competitions, following a 2-2 draw with Roma in the Europa League semi-final second leg, surpassing Benfica’s previous record of 48 unbeaten games from 1963 to 1965.
Alonso’s Bayer Leverkusen secured the 2023โ24 DFB-Pokal on May 25, defeating 1. FC Kaiserslautern 1โ0 in the final, thus completing a domestic double.
