Nigerian actress Biola Fowosere has revealed that she battled depression for almost two years after her ex-husband abandoned her and their children, an experience she says left her emotionally devastated.
Speaking in an interview on African A List, the Yoruba movie star broke down in tears as she reflected on the collapse of her marriage and the painful aftermath.
According to the actress, her ex-husband left without any explanation, leaving her with unanswered questions that have lingered for years.
“The only person I’d really want to ask a question is my ex-husband. I’d really like to ask him what I did wrong because I did nothing before he left the kids and me. I want to ask what my children and I did to deserve what he did to us,” she said.
Fowoshere disclosed that the separation took a severe toll on her mental health, leading to a prolonged battle with depression.
“I spent one year and six months in the hospital battling depression after he left. I almost went mad. We are not in contact. Since he left, we haven’t seen him. He blocked us seven years ago.”
The actress said the emotional pain of being abandoned by her husband was compounded by the fact that he also cut off communication with their children.
She explained that neither she nor the children has had any contact with him since he left, adding that he blocked them seven years ago and has not seen or spoken to them since then.
Fowoshere’s revelation sheds light on the emotional and psychological challenges that can follow family breakdowns, as she recounted how the experience pushed her to the brink while she struggled to recover.
