Beyoncé has released the long-awaited song “Morning Dew (Donk)” ahead of the 20th anniversary reissue of her hit album “B’Day.”
The singer dropped the track on streaming platforms early Saturday. The release starts a 60-day countdown to the reissue of “B’Day” on September 4, which also marks Beyoncé’s birthday.
Parkwood Entertainment also released a lyric video directed by Cliff Watts. The video uses archived footage. Beyoncé wrote the song with Pharrell Williams, The-Dream and Darius Dixon. She also co-produced it with Williams.
Fans have waited years for an official release. Beyoncé reportedly recorded the song in 2013. A short snippet leaked in 2021 before the full version appeared online two years later.
Parkwood Entertainment said the release serves as a “direct nod to her loyal BeyHive to commemorate the upcoming epic celebration of ‘B’Day,’” marking Beyoncé’s first new music in two years.
Beyoncé first released “B’Day” on September 4, 2006. The album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 after selling more than 541,000 units in its first week. It produced hit singles including “Déjà Vu,” “Ring the Alarm,” and “Irreplaceable.”
She followed the album with a deluxe edition in 2007. It featured five new songs and the “B’Day Anthology Video Album,” which included 13 music videos
