Various Big Brother seasons have come and gone and the major similarity between these different seasons are the success stories of the housemates. The first version of the reality TV show in Nigeria was aired in 2006. There was a break in between before the show came back alive in 2017. In 2017, the show saw a lot of Nigerian youths jostling to gain entry to one of the most watched reality shows in Africa.
The 2017 edition of the reality tv show tagged: ‘See Gobe’, was a big bang across Africa and Efe, emerged the winner. In 2018, the show became hotter as it was tagged ‘Double Wahala’ and Miracle emerged the winner. Based on the exposure that the platform brings, here are some of the success stories of past BB Naija housemates.
Tobi: Tobi with real name Tobi Bakre, was one of the housemates in season 3 of the show (Double Wahala) He was indeed one of the faces viewers were always anticipating to see on the show. Before his entry into the house, Tobi was an investment banker as well as a self-taught photographer. Though he was growing steadily in the showbiz world especially with his popular lifestyle while on campus, his first main break into the entertainment scene was on the reality tv show. After the show, Tobi has gone on to sign endorsement deals with various brands, while he takes a leap in his acting career as he also features on Africa Magic’s ‘Hustle’.
Bisola: Bisola Aiyeola, was an entertaining housemate in the 2nd season of the show. She was always a delight to watch. Before the BB Naija show, Bisola had tried her hands on different entertainment platforms. In 2008, she was a contestant on the project fame show, though she didn’t emerge a winner. She also worked as the head of programs at Women radio. After emerging as the 1st runner up on the show, she got various endorsement deals as she also ventured back to acting, In 2018, she won the 2018 AMVCA Trailblazer award, and has since featured on different movies such as Ovy’s voice, Picture perfect, Chief Daddy and the yet to be released Gold Statue.
CeeC: CeeC, the fierce queen with real names; Cynthia Nwadiora, was a delight to watch in the house. Her constant controversies in the house did not go unnoticed as she won the hearts of many. Just before she was given the chance to show the world the stuff she is made of, CeeC was an outdoor advertising practitioner. Shortly after the show, CeeC was blessed with a lot of endorsement deals as well as ambassadorial deals. She is also rolling in money as she owns her own clothing line; Cegar, and is also an influencer.
BamBam: The graduate of Bells University Ota; Bamike Olawunmi was among the housemates on the 3rd season of the show. She tried her hands on a lot of things before gaining entry into the house. When she was evicted from the show, she didn’t stop at that. She launched her skincare line which had orders of over 5 million naira at first sales. She has also featured in different movies ever since her exit from the house.
Kemen: Kemen Ekerette was a housemate on the second edition of the show. Before he was a housemate on the show, he was a fitness coach, though not as popular when he left the house. Despite the controversy that led to his exit from the house, Kemen is definitely doing fine by himself.
Ebuka: After finishing 8th in the first season of the show in Nigeria, Ebuka Obi-Uchendu has made a great impression in the media. His major break has been his position as the show’s host for since the second edition in 2017. Through the platform, he has been able to maximize his potential in the media as he hosts the Rubbin’ Minds talk show on Channels, The Spot and Men’s Corner on Ebonylife TV.
Katung: Katung Aduwak emerged as the winner of the first edition of the reality tv show. The Jos born film producer went on to create a meaningful life for himself after the show. The 29-year-old after the show, went on to New York to get a directorial degree from the Digital Film Academy. When he got back, he worked on Unwanted guest and has also produced; Heaven Hell, a new movie. He has worked as a Senior Channel Manager at MTV Base and Executive Director at Chocolate City. He also featured in EbonyLife produced ‘Desperate Housewives’.
