Nigerian comedian, Bright Okpocha, widely known as Basketmouth, has announced plans to fully dedicate himself to music and filmmaking in 2025.
The comedian revealed that his foray into comedy was initially unplanned, describing it as a โflukeโ that came about after his music aspirations faced challenges.
In a recent interview with Pulse, Basketmouth shared his passion for music and movies, emphasizing that filmmaking has always been his primary ambition.
โIโm going to take music more seriously in 2025. I want to create EPs because there are some artists I want to work with,โ he said.
Basketmouth disclosed that his love for movies surpasses his interest in comedy.

โTo be honest, movies are my first choice. I prioritize movies over comedy. It has always been like that; itโs just that I havenโt made the movie yet,โ he explained.
He recounted his initial journey in the entertainment industry, stating that he began with music, particularly rap, but shifted gears when it didnโt yield the desired results.
โI have always been funny since primary school, but music was just a talent I felt I could use as a plaything. Rap was my thing, but after a while, I realized it wasnโt going the way I wanted. Then I tried comedy, and it worked almost immediately.โ
Despite a rocky start in comedy, Basketmouth said his career took off once he mastered the craft. Now, with a thriving comedy legacy, heโs ready to pursue his long-held dreams of excelling in music and filmmaking.
