AUC-AFRIMA TO HOLD AFRIMA 3.0 STAKEHOLDERS’CONFERENCE IN ADDIS ABABA

In its drive to build capacity for knowledge sharing among Africans andย effectively communicate the calendar OF AFRIMA 3.0, The African Unionย Commission, AUC, and the All Africa Music Awards, AFRIMA hold joint
Stakeholders/Media Conference at the Conference Room 2, African Unionย Headquarters, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia on Friday, June 17, 2016.

The AUC-AFRIMA joint conference, Addis Ababa which is themed: “”Usingย Music, Culture and Entertainment as tools for a new Africa.” is slatedย for 1400hr on Friday June 17, 2016 on the last day of the African Unionย 2nd Ordinary Session of the Specialized Technical Committee of expertsย and ministers on Youth, Culture and Sports (STC-YCS2) which holds fromย June 13-17, 2016.

The AUC-AFRIMA joint stakeholders/media conference is specifically toย share this year’s calendar and programs of the annual continentalย awards, All Africa Music Awards tagged “AFRIMA 3.0” with focus on Julyย 30, 2016 deadline for this year’s entry submission which opened on Mayย 30. The entry submission is officially open for entries from Artistes,ย Songwriters, Music/Entertainment Journalists, Video Directors, Musicย Producers, and DJs across the continent and Diaspora.

The conference will also touch on the adjudication process, nominees’ย announcement and public voting as part of 2016 calendar. The Discussingย how to engage the shared African values and the spirit of Pan-Africanismย for greater collaborations in culture and music for sustainableย development in line with the AU cultural agenda for peace building,ย integration, democracy, economic advancement and youth socialย development.

The conference will bring together music professionals,ย creative/cultural industry experts and practitioners; award AFRIMA 2015 Best Female Artiste in Eastern Africa, Tsedenia-Ethiopiawinningย recording artistes, government officials, business and mediaย practitioners in Ethiopia and neighbouring countries.Chairperson, African Union Commission,  Dr. Nkosazana-Dlamini-Zuma

The All Africa Music Awards, AFRIMA, is a music and cultural initiativeย developed to celebrate, reward and showcase the rich musical heritage ofย Africa, stimulate conversations among Africans and between Africa and
the rest of the globe about the great potentials and values of theย African culture and artistic legacy for the purpose of creating jobs,ย reducing poverty, calling attention of world leaders to Africa andย promoting the positive image of Africa to the world. The 2016 editionย will hold in November 4-6.
