Andy Uba dumps PDP
Lawmaker representing Anambra-South senatorial district, Senator Andy Uba on Tuesday officially announced his defection to the All Progressive Congress. He made this known in a letter addressed to the President of the senate, which was read during plenary session.
However, the PDP caucus through the Minority Leader God’swill Akpabio, said Uba will forfeit his seat since the mandate belonged to PDP.
While making the demand under Order 43 of the Senate Standing Rules, he also requested that Uba be sacked within 24 hours.
He said, “That position belongs to the PDP and it was the party that contested the election in Anambra. This is a notice of our intention to go to court to reclaim that seat. I just want to let you know that, automatically, since the party is not in dispute, his seat is in peril.”
Uba had first disclosed his defection at a news briefing in his home tome, Uga, Aguata L.G.A of the state on February 1, 2017.
