Africa’s cinema icons were recognised at the AMVCA 2025 Night of Icons, which took place in Lagos on April 7, 2025.
It was a glittering, nostalgic, and humorous event. The best Nollywood stars came together for this occasion, which served as a prelude to the highly anticipated 11th edition of the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA).
On May 11, 2025, the main awards ceremony will be held at the esteemed Eko Hotels and Suites in Lagos, where both seasoned professionals and up-and-coming artists will be honoured for their achievements to the African entertainment scene.

The audience was in stitches after their hilarious comedy, which turned the space into an unplanned theatre where the main act was laughter.
The two legends’ conversation was a lovely reminder of their enduring impact in Nollywood and the joy that can be found in even the most basic narrative.
This humorous performance served as a tribute to Nollywood’s golden age for those in attendance, bringing back happy memories of the early years of the business and its progress.
Excitement is growing as the major AMVCA awards event draws nearer.
Films like Skeleton Coast by Robert Peters, Lisabi: The Uprising by Lateef Adedimeji, and Seven Doors by Femi Adebayo are all serious contenders for top accolades.
