The coach of Algeria national team Georges Leekens has said the way to coming top in the duel with Super Eagles of Nigeria is to stop the duo of Alex Iwobi and Kelechi Iheanacho from seeing the ball. Leekens explained that he had observed eagles past games and the players are always trying to get the ball to Iheanacho and Iwobi. He regards the forwarders as the most creative among the Nigerian players. it would be recalled that the duo stepped up to bail Nigeria out with crucial goals in the games against Tanzania and Zambia where Nigeria won 1-0 and 2-0 respectively.
Leekens told the media:โWe have found out the two most important players in the Nigeria team Iwobi and Iheanacho, in tight spaces their teammates are always looking for them. They are also good at running behind unnoticedโ. โThe key is to deny them access to the ball, as whichever formation Nigeria play, they are key not even their captain, Mikel. Stopping Iheanacho and Iwobi will neutralise Nigeriaโs complex formationโ.
