Award winning veteran Nollywood icon, Alex Usifo Omiagbo, returns to the small screen this week in the second season of the Tribe Nation Original Web Series, Dawn (re-titled “Dusk” for season 2).
Alex Usifo who has been in the industry since 1984 started with stage plays like “Awero” where he played Pa Jimoh. His major breakthrough came from his portrayal of the very cruel “Talab Abass” in the television soap opera, “Ripples” in 1988. Ever since then, Alex Usifo has been a powerful force in the Nigerian Entertainment Industry.
This week, he portrays the role of Professor Olaolu Fatimilehin in the online-based drama series titled Dawn, created by writer and executive producer, Anita Edwards. Dawn tells the story of a group of students and the lives they lead while on campus. The show, which stars other Nollywood heavyweights like Jude Orhorha, Dayo Davies, Bunmi Awolowo and Deji Onadeko, was conceptualized in 2013 and is based on Anita’s 2011 short-film titled, “The Morning After Dawn”. Alex Usifo’s character, Professor Olaolu Fatimilehin, is a vice chancellor of a federal university, who would do anything to keep the skeletons in his closet safe. The show in its entirety is filmed in Ile-Ife, Osun state at Tribe Nation Studios, with certain parts filmed on other locations including Obafemi Awolowo University which serves as the main location for the university setting.
