Iyanya, an Afrobeats artist, has responded to allegations that he has chosen a side in the ongoing conflict between Davido and Wizkid, two of Nigeria’s largest music exporters.

Following his recent public endorsement of the DMW boss’s songs, Iyanya was accused by an X user, @Akubasteeny, of betraying Wizkid, with whom he had previously collaborated on the hit song Sexy Mama, in favour of Davido. This rekindled the dispute.

“I thought Wiz was your friend. I am just wondering why you switched side and turned into Davido’s boy,” the user wrote.

Iyanya quickly refuted the implication, saying he has no ill will towards any of his peers and continues to support all Nigerian musicians, irrespective of fan-created divisions.

“I don’t have an issue with any artiste. I played Wizkid’s Made in Lagos and Morayo, the same way I play every other artiste’s songs. Most artistes won’t say this, but we are the first to listen to other artistes’ projects when they drop. It’s part of our work to stay updated on the sound and the game” he wrote.

Iyanya went on to emphasise his unwavering support for other musicians by bringing up his practice of performing new songs that talent manager Ubi Franklin had introduced him to.

He added that he and Burna Boy still get along well, mentioning that they just went out to a club together.

“I dey play all and I tell you, me no get enemy o. So make una stop this friend or no friend. Na una fans dey try dey push agenda wey no dey,” he added.

However, Iyanya’s explanation comes as Wizkid and Davido’s ongoing conflict has escalated, frequently spilling over onto social media and entangling their fan bases in contentious online discussions.
