The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) has criticized the Presidency following comments suggesting that President Bola Tinubu would remain in office until 2031.
The ACF urged the Tinubu-led administration to prioritize good governance and the welfare of Nigerians rather than focusing on the 2027 presidential election.
This criticism came in response to remarks by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), George Akume, who on Sunday called on northern political leaders eyeing the presidency in 2027 to set aside their ambitions until 2031, after Tinubuโs potential second term.
Akume, speaking on a TVC program, argued that Tinubu, as a southern president, should be allowed to complete two terms in office.
Reacting to these comments, ACF National Publicity Secretary, Prof. Tukur Muhammad-Baba, emphasized that it was premature to discuss the 2027 election.
He stated that the ACF would remain non-partisan, focusing instead on advocating for the welfare of Nigerians rather than endorsing or opposing any candidate.
