James Holmes was adjudged guilty of murder in the first degree by a Jury yesterday almost three years after his shooting and killing of 12 people at a packed movie theater.
Three years ago in Aurora, Colorado on the day the movie “The Dark Knight Rises” premiered, James Holmes went into a movie theater and opened fire and ended up killing 12 people and wounding dozens more. Among the people killed were a six year old girl whose mother survived the shooting with a bullet lodged in her spine and unable to walk again.
James Holmes presented his defense on the basis of insanity and his lawyers argued he was legally insane at the time. It isn’t clear at this time whether or not James Holmes will get the death penalty.
The Jury reached a verdict after almost 13 hours of deliberation.
