Rachael Okonkwo, the Nigerian actress, has announced her engagement to businessman Chukwudi Onuorah, whom she described as “my billionaire baby”.
In a viral video, the 39-year-old actress flaunts her engagement ring while holding a bouquet of red roses.
Okonkwo wears a black gown in the video. She sits in a room that appears to be the proposal venue, with flower petals scattered around. She also refers to Onuorah as “my billionaire baby”.
TheCable Lifestyle also observed that the actress has added her fiancé’s name to her Instagram bio. It now reads, “Rachael Okonkwo Chukwudi Onuorah”.
Onuorah reportedly hails from Enugu State. He is said to be a widower with five children and also has a child with his baby mama.
The engagement comes months after Okonkwo spoke about her expectations for marriage.
In March, the actress said she wanted to build herself and her life before seeking a partner. She also expressed interest in marrying an equally established man. Her comments followed remarks by her colleague, Zubby Michael, about owning properties and cars while unmarried.
“The idea is to be purposeful before partnership. Where I’m coming from is very dark, so I’m not looking for a poverty-alleviation relationship. I want to find myself and be with a man who has also found himself,” she had said.
“If being poor is a yardstick for finding a good husband, why didn’t I get married when I was hustling, when I was roasting corn?”
Okonkwo started acting as a child but later turned to dancing because she struggled to get movie roles. She eventually returned to Nollywood and found fame in 2014.
Her breakthrough came after she played Nkoli, the lead character in ‘Nkoli Nwa Nsukka’.
