Rapper Ycee and music podcaster Daygenuis have traded insults on X after the commentator challenged Ycee to answer Phenom’s diss track with music rather than social media posts.
The clash began on Wednesday when Daygenuis criticised Ycee for allegedly calling Phenom a “lying bastard” in the comment section of a post about their feud.
Daygenuis challenges Ycee over Phenom’s diss track
The rift between Ycee and Phenom recently resurfaced after Phenom explained that their disagreement began when he offered Ycee’s girlfriend accommodation after she became stranded in Nigeria.
Phenom later released a diss track aimed at the rapper. Reacting to the development, Daygenuis urged Ycee to respond with music instead of trading insults online.
“As Ycee no fit reply diss wey Phenom give am, baba don turn comment section warrior. Abeg enter studio and drop bars make the culture see something bop to. Beef is boring these days. So many typing, little rapping,” he wrote.
Ycee calls Daygenuis a failed rapper
In response, Ycee described Daygenuis as a failed rapper who turned to journalism after struggling to succeed in music. The rapper also accused the commentator of pretending to respect him during their face-to-face encounters.
“You’re just a bum, Deji. A useless bum. Couldn’t hack it as a rapper or battle rapper and immediately retired to become a partial journalist. You’re never gonna be Joe Budden. You’re not even DJ Akademiks. You’re a joke that’s not even funny,” he wrote.
“You’re pitiful, and I understand you have a family to feed, but I’m not the one to play these stupid internet games with. I’ve told you how I felt about you to your face, and you know I do not fuck with you, yet you’d see me in person and be grovelling like the bum ass bitch that you are.
“I no go dey ignore your papa again, as you cannot leave me alone, I go dey pupu on your head. Night dummy.”
Daygenuis warns Ycee against mentioning his family
Daygenuis insisted that his comments were hip-hop banter rather than a personal attack. He also urged Ycee to focus on Phenom’s diss track.
“Ehn Mr Ycee, I have never insulted you personally. Abeg keep it hiphop. Norbi me diss you na. Reply Phenom. Why are you doing the same thing y’all say Odumodublvck was doing. Person diss you, you dey comment section dey reply. Abeg give us better diss make we dissect,” he wrote.
“Forget all these insults. I have nothing against you. Na hiphop trolling I dey give you. Why u dey take am far? Kilagbe kileju.”
Ycee later took another swipe at the commentator, questioning his regard for his wife and child.
“How you’re married with a child and comfortable enough to tweet rubbish like this says all I need to know about how you do not regard or respect your partner or your family enough. Stupid idiot. Nightdummy,” he wrote.
Daygenuis then warned Ycee against bringing his family into the dispute.
“Last warning. Don’t bring my family into this. This is the last warning. Don’t play with me. Face @PHENOMTWEET. Make I tag the OGs to this. Cos Na when DayGenius start hin own people go start dey call me,” he wrote.
He followed up with another warning, threatening further retaliation and referring to previous clashes involving rappers A-Q and Blaqbonez.
“Pls warn Ycee not to mention my family again. I will unleash my wrath. When I finish with you, you go land for Yaba Left again. You kuku get room there already. For your mental sanity, leave me alone. I dey pity you ooh. You have way more to lose. Don’t play with me. Go ask A-Q and Blaqbonez. You go cry ooh.”
