Tobi Amusan, Shoday and Bolaji Ogunmola have earned nominations for the 20th edition of The Future Awards Africa (TFAA) for their achievements in sports, music and acting.

The organisers recently released the list of nominees across 23 categories. The awards celebrate young Africans aged 18 to 35 who demonstrate excellence, innovation, leadership and impact.

This year’s theme is ‘Celebrating The Redefiners: Africa’s AI Generation.’

Amusan leads sports nominees

Amusan, Nigeria’s track-and-field star, earned a nomination in the sports category. She will compete with Botswana’s Letsile Tebogo, Ashleigh Plumptre, Kenya’s Emmanuel Wanyoyi and Nene Joy Ojo.

Amusan has represented Nigeria at major international competitions. Her nomination places her among the young African athletes recognised by the awards.

Shoday earns music nomination

Shoday, whose real name is Shodade Solomon Segun, also made the list in the music category.

He will compete against Kenya’s Nikita Kering, Idris Lawal Oluwadamilare, known as Oshamo, Samuel Damilare, popularly known as Abefe, and Amalachukwu Okonkwo Chantell, also known as Amma.

The nomination recognises Shoday among the young musicians featured in this year’s awards.

Ogunmola makes acting shortlist

Bolaji Ogunmola secured a nomination in the acting category alongside Teniola Aladese, Uche Montana, Rosman Sunshine and Taye Arimoro.

Ogunmola has built a presence in Nollywood through her work as an actress and filmmaker. Her nomination puts her among the contenders in the acting category.

The list also features young Africans in governance, technology and innovation, entrepreneurship, journalism, education, agriculture, law, fashion and community action.

Technology entrepreneur Odunayo Eweniyi, governance nominee Rinsola Abiola and journalist Onyinyechi Obaroh also made the list.

Other nominees include Ghanaian content creator Wode Maya, Kenyan comedian Crazy Kennar and Moroccan artist Rahmal Houssig.

The awards also feature a Young Person of the Year category, with nominees including James Popoola, Abdul Azeez Abdulyekeen, Taiwo Aromolaran, Deborah Johnson and Nora Awolowo.
