Omah Lay, the Nigerian singer, was reportedly rushed to a hospital in the United States after injuring his leg while performing an acrobatic stunt during rehearsals.
The incident reportedly occurred in Los Angeles, California. The singer is currently on his ‘Clarity of Mind’ world tour.
A now-viral photo shows the ‘Holy Ghost’ crooner lying on the floor with his left leg wrapped. Medical personnel surround him and attend to his injury.
A video also shows medical personnel loading the singer onto a stretcher and into an ambulance.
Neither Omah Lay nor his management has issued an update on his condition.
Omah Lay’s music career
Born Stanley Omah Didia, the singer began his career at 15. He initially worked behind the scenes as a music producer before gaining fame in 2020.
His breakout hits, ‘You’ and ‘Bad Influence’, helped establish him as a leading voice in Nigeria’s Afrobeats scene.
In 2022, Omah Lay released ‘Boy Alone’, his debut album. His blend of Afro-fusion and vulnerable lyrics has since earned him a dedicated global following.
The singer also earned his first Grammy nomination at the 2026 awards. He received a nod in the ‘Best African Music Performance’ category for ‘With You’, his collaboration with Davido.
However, the duo lost the award to South African singer Tyla.
Singer claims Nigeria’s top spot
Omah Lay recently declared himself Nigeria’s best artiste of the last 20 years. He also said he considers himself unmatched in creativity and musicianship.
“I’m the best at this. I don’t mean to brag… but I am the best in the last 20 years,” he boasted.
