Messi Brace Lifts Inter Miami to 3-1 Victory Over Atlanta United

Messi brace headlines Inter Miami’s 3-1 victory over Atlanta United, as the Argentine superstar delivered another decisive performance on Saturday. At Mercedes-Benz Stadium on October 17, Inter Miami secured their third consecutive regular-season win and strengthened momentum before the playoffs.

German Berterame opened the scoring in the 45th minute, heading home Luis Suárez’s precise cross after Messi helped create the move. That breakthrough gave Miami an advantage before halftime and set the stage for Messi’s remarkable second-half contribution against Atlanta’s defence.

In the 56th minute, Messi combined with Berterame before driving into the box and finishing with a composed left-footed shot. Four minutes later, the captain struck again, racing onto Suárez’s pass, slipping past a defender, and guiding the ball into Atlanta’s net.

The Messi brace took his league-leading tally to 25 goals, reinforcing his position atop the MLS scoring charts this season. Berterame assisted both Messi goals, capping an influential performance after scoring the opener and strengthening his partnership with Miami’s captain.

Atlanta struggled to contain Miami’s attacking quality, despite creating chances and applying pressure during a competitive contest at home. Fafa Picault converted a penalty in the 89th minute, denying Miami a clean sheet but leaving Atlanta little time for any comeback.

The final whistle confirmed a 3-1 result, extending Inter Miami’s winning streak to three matches as the club continues its title defence. Messi also reached a playmaking milestone, recording at least 15 assists in three consecutive MLS seasons, a first in league history.
