The new Paramount Warner Bros name has been unveiled as Skydance, following the planned merger between Paramount and Warner Bros Discovery. Paramount Skydance CEO David Ellison announced the new corporate identity on Friday, October 2, ahead of the expected merger completion.
The combined company will operate under Skydance, while Paramount and Warner Bros will retain their individual identities as major studio brands. Ellison explained that the decision aims to create a distinct corporate identity without diminishing either studio’s historic legacy or global recognition.
The Skydance name comes from the entertainment company Ellison founded in 2006 before it merged with Paramount last year. Following the transaction, Skydance will oversee major entertainment assets spanning film studios, television networks, streaming platforms, and popular franchises worldwide.
The combined portfolio will include Paramount Pictures, Warner Bros Pictures, CBS, CNN, HBO, HBO Max, Paramount Plus, and several networks. Major entertainment franchises including Harry Potter and DC will also become part of the expanded company’s extensive portfolio following completion.
The Paramount Warner Bros merger is expected to close on October 6 after regulatory and legal hurdles were cleared this week. The transaction carries an enterprise value of roughly $110 billion, creating one of Hollywood’s largest entertainment companies through the combination.
Ynon Kreiz, the outgoing Mattel chief executive, will serve as co-CEO alongside Ellison after the merger officially closes next week. Kreiz is expected to focus on daily operations and integration, while Ellison will lead creative strategy for Skydance’s future.
The new structure allows both Paramount and Warner Bros to continue operating as recognizable entertainment brands under Skydance’s corporate umbrella. Skydance will therefore become the new corporate name while preserving two of Hollywood’s most recognizable studio identities within the company.
