Mavin disowns Lotanna Harry, warns public against dealing with him

Mavin Records, the Nigerian label founded by Don Jazzy, has issued a warning to the public about Lotanna Harry. The label said Harry is not its agent or representative.

Mavin denies link with Harry

Mavin issued the warning in a statement on its official X account.

The label said Harry had presented himself as an agent, representative, intermediary or authorised associate of the company.

“We write as internal attorneys on behalf of MG ENTERTAINMENT NIGERIA LIMITED (formerly trading as Mavin Records and now Mavin) (‘the Company’) and hereby issue this formal notice in relation to a certain person named Lotanna Harry (‘the Individual’), who has been holding himself/herself out, or otherwise representing or suggesting, that he is an agent, representative, intermediary or authorised associate of the Company,” the statement reads.

“The Company categorically and unequivocally disclaims any such representation.”

Mavin said Harry’s only known link to the label was as a paid video model.

The company said he worked on a subcontract basis for appearances in some of its videos.

“The Company hereby confirms that Lotanna Harry, whose photo is hereby publicised alongside this notice, HAS NEVER AT ANY TIME BEEN APPOINTED, ENGAGED, AUTHORIZED OR MANDATED BY THE COMPANY TO ACT AS ITS AGENT, REPRESENTATIVE, INTERMEDIARY OR AUTHORIZED PERSON IN ANY CAPACITY WHATSOEVER,” it added.

The label said Harry had no authority to use its name or brand.

It also said he could not use its business relationships for any purpose.

Mavin said the company would not accept responsibility for any deal involving Harry.

It added that any offer or commitment he made on its behalf would not affect the company.

Mavin warns the public

The label urged people not to rely on Harry’s claims of representing Mavin.

“ALL PERSONS ARE HEREBY EXPRESSLY WARNED NOT TO DEAL WITH OR RELY UPON ANY REPRESENTATION MADE BY THE SAID INDIVIDUAL AS BEING AUTHORIZED BY THE COMPANY,” the statement reads.

“Any person who chooses to engage with the Individual in reliance upon his/her purported authority does so entirely at his/her own risk.”

Mavin said it could take legal action against Harry. It also reserved the right to act against anyone involved in the alleged unauthorised representation.

“For the avoidance of doubt, the said Lotanna Harry IS NOT AN AGENT, REPRESENTATIVE OR AUTHORIZED INTERMEDIARY OF MAVIN and nothing done, said or represented by the Individual should be construed otherwise,” it added.

Established in 2012, Mavin has helped launch the careers of several Afrobeats artistes. They include Rema, Ayra Starr, Johnny Drille and Ladipoe.

Universal Music Group acquired a majority stake in Mavin in 2024.
