Nigerian actress Toyosi Adesanya says veteran actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, is now in the operating theatre for treatment amid his battle with stage four cancer.
Adesanya shared the update in a recent Instagram post. She said Solomon Adeola, senator representing Ogun West, had contacted top cancer specialists to support Ogogo’s treatment.
“Senator Yayi personally reached out to top cancer specialists, and we are grateful to learn that Ogogo has now been admitted to the operating theatre for treatment,” she wrote.
The actress also prayed for a successful procedure and the actor’s full recovery.
“We pray for a successful procedure, complete recovery, renewed strength and many more years of good health for our beloved Nollywood legend.
“A huge thank you to everyone who has prayed, offered suggestions, shared the appeal and shown concern for Ogogo. May God bless you all. Ogogo, we are standing with you. You will come out stronger!”
The update comes weeks after Ogogo’s family revealed his stage four cancer diagnosis.
Kira, one of his daughters, said the family discovered the illness about three weeks ago. She added that the condition had affected his abdomen.
According to Kira, some medical institutions told the family they could no longer administer chemotherapy to the actor. She then appealed for recommendations for other treatment options.
Kira also thanked Adeola for helping the family with Ogogo’s medical bills.
Lima, another of Ogogo’s daughters, said the senator had promised to continue supporting the family financially.
She also explained that Ogogo was not fit to travel abroad for treatment. This was in response to a comment by socialite Yhemo Lee.
On Tuesday, actors Femi Adebayo, Muyiwa Ademola and Bimbo Oshin also called for support for Ogogo as he continues his treatment
