Officials urged Nigerians, journalists, and stakeholders to disregard suspicious, misleading, or unauthorised messages appearing on the affected account.
The warning followed reports that cryptocurrency-related posts appeared on the military account, which has nearly one million followers nationwide. Those posts appeared unrelated to official military activities and raised concerns about possible attempts to mislead the public through channels.
DHQ said efforts remain underway to restore complete control, while officials continue monitoring the account for further suspicious activity online. Meanwhile, the military encouraged Nigerians to obtain verified updates through its Facebook page, Instagram account, and official WhatsApp channel directly.
