VDM loses 13,000 followers after backlash over P-Square family feud

Online activist Martin Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has lost thousands of followers after celebrities and fans criticised his involvement in the ongoing family feud surrounding defunct music group P-Square.

VDM recently took the side of Jude Okoye in the dispute involving the Okoye brothers, Peter and Paul. He said he had looked into the matter and planned to share his findings after speaking with people connected to the controversy.

His position has since sparked backlash, with critics accusing him of interfering in a family matter without sufficient evidence.

Nigerian singer Cynthia Morgan has repeatedly criticised VDM over his involvement, alleging that he sided with her former label boss, Jude, because she refused his friendship.

Media personality Radiogad also questioned some of VDM’s claims, saying he had yet to provide concrete evidence to support his position despite releasing several videos on the matter.

Liberian actor Artus Frank equally urged the activist to stay away from the dispute.

“Stay off this. Trust me, you are a very respected person. I follow you and the tremendous effort you make in the Nigerian community. As long as it comes to the Okoye family, stay off it”

Fans also joined the criticism, with some urging VDM to allow the brothers to defend themselves.

One fan, KDC Global, wrote: “Thank God Jude is alive. Recall Paul came out to say he wished his mother were alive to defend herself. Thank God Jude and Paul are alive and can defend themselves”

Amid the backlash, VDM revealed that 13,000 people had unfollowed him.

“13,000 13 thousand people have unfollowed me so far……Nigerians, I am sorry. I made a terrible mistake. Forgive me,13 thousand people that have been giving me promotions and advertising. I am sorry, 13 thousand people, please forgive me.”
