Tennis Channel will exclusively broadcast Roger Federer’s International Tennis Hall of Fame induction ceremony, giving tennis fans worldwide a chance to watch the event live.
The network will air the ceremony on Aug. 29 at 6:30 p.m. ET. Fans can also stream it on the Tennis Channel app. Organisers will hold the event at the International Tennis Hall of Fame in Newport, Rhode Island. Federer and journalist and former player Mary Carillo will receive the honour.
Veteran Tennis Channel analyst Brett Haber will open the celebration. Before the ceremony, “TC Live” will begin a special pre-show at 6 p.m. ET from the Hall of Fame grounds. Hall of Famer Martina Navratilova, Prakash Amritraj and Dani Klupenger will appear on the programme.
Former player, coach and commentator Brad Gilbert will also travel to Newport. He will host a special edition of Tennis Channel’s “The Big T” podcast. The episode will air on Saturday morning before the ceremony.
Tennis Channel, Tennis Channel 2 and the Tennis Channel app will celebrate Federer’s career throughout the weekend. The platforms will show some of his greatest matches and memorable moments starting on Aug. 28.
Federer earned his place in the Hall of Fame after building one of the greatest careers in tennis. He became the first man to win 20 Grand Slam singles titles. He captured eight Wimbledon titles, six Australian Open crowns, five US Open championships and one French Open title.
Carillo also made a lasting impact on tennis. She played professionally before building a successful broadcasting career. She joined Tennis Channel as a commentator in 2011 and became known for her storytelling and support for the sport.
