Days after his reported split from longtime partner and fellow WCB Wasafi signee Zuchu, Tanzanian music star Diamond Platnumz has revealed that all his cars, homes and businesses are registered in his mother’s name.
The award-winning singer, whose real name is Naseeb Abdul Juma Issack, disclosed during a birthday celebration for his mother, Sandra Kassim. The statement quickly sparked debate across social media.
Speaking at the event, Diamond said: “My cars, homes and businesses are registered in my mother’s name. What’s mine is hers.”
The revelation immediately drew comparisons to Moroccan football star Achraf Hakimi. In 2023, social media users widely discussed reports that many of Hakimi’s assets were registered in his mother’s name during divorce proceedings. However, some of those claims were never officially confirmed.
Timing fuels online reactions
Diamond’s comments came only three days after Zuchu announced the end of their relationship.
Many fans linked the timing of the statement to the breakup. Zuchu was also absent from the family celebration, adding to online speculation.
Despite the reactions, Diamond presented the arrangement as a sign of gratitude to his mother. He has often praised Sandra Kassim for the sacrifices she made before he became one of East Africa’s biggest music stars.
The singer frequently credits her support for helping shape his career.
Hakimi comparison resurfaces

Comparisons between Diamond and Hakimi did not begin with this latest revelation.
In April 2023, during the height of discussions surrounding Hakimi, Diamond’s mother shared a photo of her son on Instagram. She captioned it: “Best yangu wa ukweli… Hakimi” (My true best friend… Hakimi).
Diamond’s sister, Esma, also joined the conversation. She commented: “Hakimi na mama hakimi” (Hakimi and Hakimi’s mom).
Those remarks resurfaced online after Diamond’s latest statement.
Questions over business ownership
Some observers have questioned how Diamond’s arrangement applies to his business empire.
Registering personal assets such as houses and vehicles under another person’s name is relatively straightforward. Business ownership can be more complex.
Diamond owns major ventures, including Wasafi Classic Baby (WCB) and Wasafi Media. He also serves as CEO and a key shareholder in the companies.
Experts note that transferring ownership of large businesses often involves legal, tax and regulatory requirements. As a result, some believe Diamond’s comments reflected his trust in his mother rather than the exact legal structure of every asset he owns
