The management of Fuji music icon Kollington Ayinla has threatened legal action against those spreading false reports of the musician’s death online.
In a statement released on Instagram, the management described the rumour as “malicious and unfounded”. It dismissed claims that the veteran entertainer had passed away.
The statement also condemned the report as a “mischievous, callous, and wicked lie”. According to the management, disgruntled individuals and fake news peddlers circulated the story.
Reassuring fans, the management said: “Alhaji Kollington Ayinla is ALIVE, WELL, and IN GOOD HEALTH. Baba is currently enjoying himself, surrounded by family and close associates, and still blessing the world with his unmatched Fuji music dexterity and wisdom.”
The management accused those behind the rumour of causing confusion and distress.
“This false report is the handiwork of heartless people who derive joy from causing pain and confusion. They intend to gain cheap traffic, disrespect a living legend, and cause distress to his family, fans, and the entire ILORI Dynasty Worldwide,” the statement said.
It also urged the public to verify information before sharing it online.
“To those sharing it: Verify before you viralize. Spreading false death news is not ‘content’ – it’s wickedness,” the statement added.
The management demanded an immediate retraction of the report.
“To the fake news generators: Delete this lie immediately. You are toying with the life and legacy of a national icon,” it said.
The statement added that the family, management, and legal team would pursue legal action against anyone found creating or spreading the false report.
