Singer Oliver Tree Dies at 32 After Helicopter Crash in Brazil

Oliver Tree, ‘Alien Boy’ and ‘Life Goes On’ Musician, Dies at 32 in Helicopter Crash

Singer-songwriter Oliver Tree, best known for hit songs “Alien Boy,” “Life Goes On, and “Miss You,” has died at the age of 32 following a helicopter crash in Rio de Janeiro, according to CNN Brazil.

The crash reportedly occurred on Sunday morning in the southwest of Rio de Janeiro and involved two helicopters. CNN Brazil reported that six people died in the accident, including Tree. The musician had been sharing content from Brazil on social media just a day before the tragedy.

Born in California, Tree began his music career producing dubstep and performing in the San Francisco Bay Area under the name Tree. He released his debut EP, “Demons,” in 2013 before gaining wider attention in 2016 through his feature on Whethan’s “When I’m Down.” Later that year, he signed with Atlantic Records and released “Welcome to LA.”

Tree’s popularity soared with his 2018 EP “Alien Boy,” while his signature bowl haircut and retro fashion style made him a recognisable figure online. His songs became major hits on TikTok, where he amassed more than 15 million followers.

At the time of his death, Tree was touring in support of his fourth studio album, “Love You Madly, Hate You Badly.”

Among those paying tribute was singer-songwriter Melanie Martinez, who dated Tree in the past. She wrote on Instagram Story: “Been an absolute wreck today.”

Martinez added, “Rest in peace, Oliver. I know you’re making the angels giggle. I’ll be here wondering what stunt and creative project you’re scheming up in heaven. All my love.”
