Afrobeats star Davido has described Mr P’s latest single, ‘I Can’t Look Away’, as “low-key fire”, praising the song’s appeal and adding fresh momentum to its growing reception among music fans.

Mr P, whose real name is Peter Okoye, recently released the track, which tells the story of a woman so captivating that he cannot take his eyes off her.

Taking to X on Sunday evening, Davido shared his thoughts on the song, writing: “Can’t lie, that new Mr P song is lowkey fire.”

The endorsement quickly drew a response from Mr P, who thanked the award-winning singer for the support and joked that the praise would make it even harder for listeners to ignore the track.

“Appreciate it, bro. Now you have made it even harder for people to look away #ICantLookAway,” he wrote.

Davido and Mr P are among the most recognisable names in the Nigerian music industry.

Born David Adeleke, Davido rose to prominence in 2012 following the release of ‘Dami Duro’, the second single from his debut album, ‘Omo Baba Olowo’. He has since established himself as one of Africa’s leading artistes and a prominent member of Afrobeats’ “Big Three”.

Mr P has also remained influential in the industry, sustaining a successful solo career after the split of the music duo Psquare following a long-running feud with his twin brother, Paul Okoye.
