Davido Says He’d Keep Performing Even If He Joins Government

Keeping one foot in music and the other in public service is an idea Davido says he is open to exploring. The Afrobeats star recently shared that even if he eventually takes up a role in government, he has no intention of abandoning his career as a performer. Speaking during a livestream, he explained that music remains a defining part of his identity, and while official duties would demand his time, they wouldn’t completely take him away from the stage.

Drawing from global examples, Davido referenced Michel Martelly, the former leader of Haiti, who successfully combined politics with entertainment. Martelly, widely known for his music career before assuming office, continued to perform even as president, balancing governance with occasional shows and touring during breaks. Davido noted that this model proves it is possible to manage both worlds, even if it requires careful scheduling and reduced appearances.

He acknowledged that stepping into government would naturally limit how often he performs, but insisted it wouldn’t bring his music journey to a halt. Instead, he sees it as an adjustment, one where performances become more selective, possibly reserved for special occasions or periods of leave.

The comments have stirred conversations among fans, many of whom are aware of Davido’s political ties and growing interest in governance. While he has not made any formal move toward holding office, his remarks suggest a long-term vision that blends influence in both entertainment and public service.
