It got a bit tense, but also playful, as the conversation continued. Burna Boy leaned back, clearly unfazed, watching how Ebuka Obi-Uchendu would respond after throwing the question at him.
Ebuka, smiling, admitted he might as well “ask AI” for the definition, which made the moment even lighter. But Burna Boy didn’t let it go that easily. He pointed out that people often use big words without fully understanding them, especially when describing public figures. For him, the label “arrogant” gets thrown around too casually, often by people reacting to confidence they’re not used to seeing.
He went on to explain that being sure of himself doesn’t mean he feels superior to others. In his words, there’s a difference between arrogance and knowing your value. He hinted that much of the criticism he receives stems from society’s expectations that successful people, especially African artists, behave in a more reserved or “humble” way.
