A defining moment in Tania Omotayo’s journey came when her work unexpectedly gained global attention.
Speaking with BBC News Pidgin, the fashion designer shared that her breakthrough happened when supermodel Naomi Campbell wore a Ziva dress to open her runway show. For her, it was more than just a proud moment; it marked a shift in how her brand was seen.
As the creative director of Ziva Lagos and Ziva Kids, she described herself as creative, fun, and deeply involved in content creation. She noted that she works best at night, even though she appreciates the calm of early mornings.
Tania also opened up about her personality, admitting she is naturally shy and sometimes struggles with procrastination, something she is actively trying to improve. Despite her growing influence, she stays connected to her roots, revealing her love for amala, ewedu, and assorted meat as her favourite comfort meal.
On style, she expressed a bold yet balanced approach. While she enjoys colour, she pointed out that mixing too many shades can be a mistake. Her love for corsets, which she playfully described as “corset baby,” reflects her preference for structured, standout pieces.
She also highlighted the strong presence of Nigerian women in fashion, noting how they consistently stand out with confidence and style..
