The Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), Delta state chapter, has revealed that the medical document presented by social media influencer Blessing CEO to support her cancer diagnosis is a doctored version of a report originally issued to a different patient.
The influencer had earlier sparked concern in February after announcing she was battling breast cancer and appealing for financial assistance for surgery. However, doubts quickly trailed the claim, with many online questioning the legitimacy of her diagnosis.
Now, the NMA says the document circulating online in her name was allegedly altered and originally belonged to a different patient. According to the association, the report in question was issued in May 2025 to one Mbara Deborah after a confirmed breast cancer test carried out at Xinus Medical Diagnostics.
The diagnostic centre, through its proprietor O. A. Odigwe, also denied ever issuing any report to Blessing, clarifying that its facility is based in Asaba, not Enugu, as earlier suggested in the circulating document.
The NMA explained that the original test was conducted following a referral from a private hospital, and the verified result was released to the attending doctor, not the influencer. It added that the version now making the rounds online appears to have been modified.
Amid mounting criticism, the Blessing CEO had defended her decision not to publicly release her medical records, citing patient confidentiality. She later described the entire situation as a “miscommunication,” despite earlier claims that she was battling stage 4 cancer.
As public scrutiny intensifies, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has weighed in, stating that no official petition has been filed against the influencer so far.
The NMA, meanwhile, has urged the public to remain cautious and not be misled, emphasizing the need to protect the credibility of medical professionals amid the unfolding drama.
