Lola Vivour-Adeniyi Speaks on Allegations Involving Simi, Urges Survivors to Come Forward

The Executive Secretary of the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency, Lola Vivour-Adeniyi, has addressed the ongoing conversation surrounding allegations involving singer Simi, stating that prosecution would be difficult without a survivor formally stepping forward.

Speaking on the matter, Vivour-Adeniyi emphasized that due process must be followed in handling sexual assault cases. According to her, for any legal action to begin, an alleged survivor must present themselves and give an official statement.

โ€œIt is going to be very difficult to prosecute Simi without a survivor being present,โ€ she said. โ€œTo start the process, we encourage anybody who was allegedly sexually assaulted by Simi to please come forward and ensure that their statement is taken.โ€

Her statement comes amid growing online discussions and claims circulating on social media. However, no formal complaint has been publicly confirmed at this time.

The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency reiterated that allegations shared online, while serious, cannot automatically translate into prosecution without evidence and a complainant willing to participate in the legal process.

Vivour-Adeniyi stressed that the agency remains open and ready to receive reports from anyone who believes they have been assaulted. She noted that survivors are entitled to confidentiality, support services, and legal guidance throughout the process.

Legal experts have also pointed out that in Nigeriaโ€™s justice system, sexual assault cases typically require firsthand testimony, medical reports where applicable, and investigative procedures before charges can be filed.

As of now, the singer has not been formally charged in connection with any case, and there has been no official court filing linked to the claims circulating online.

The development has triggered mixed reactions across social media platforms. Some users argue that allegations must be thoroughly investigated, while others caution against trial by social media without verified complaints.

The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency continues to urge anyone with credible information or direct experience to approach the appropriate authorities rather than rely solely on online discourse.

For now, the situation remains at the level of public conversation, pending any formal complaint or investigative action.
