Bimbo Ademoye Calls Out Emmanuel Davies Over Copyright Claim on “Where Love Lives”

Popular Nollywood actress and filmmaker Bimbo Ademoye has publicly called out a man identified as Emmanuel Davies, also linked to Lagos Sound, over an alleged copyright infringement involving her film “Where Love Lives.”

The movie, which Bimbo uploaded on her YouTube channel, has been a massive success, recording over 18 million views in just three weeks. However, what should have been a celebratory moment quickly turned into a frustrating battle over ownership and creative rights.

According to Bimbo Ademoye, she woke up to discover that her movie had been restricted from monetization on YouTube. The reason? A copyright claim placed on the soundtrack of the film.

Bimbo revealed that the soundtrack in question was produced by her, and that she fully owns the rights to it. Despite this, Emmanuel Davies allegedly uploaded the same sound to major streaming platforms and falsely claimed to be the producer, composer, and lyricist.

This claim triggered YouTube’s copyright system, resulting in penalties against Bimbo’s film despite her being the original creator.

In a series of Instagram posts, Bimbo Ademoye expressed deep anger and disappointment, describing the situation as an attempt to steal her hard work.

She issued a one-hour ultimatum, demanding that Emmanuel Davies immediately lift the copyright claim. In her words, she made it clear that she was not one to make threats but would take serious action if the issue was not resolved.

Her post read, in part, that she was giving him one hour to “do the needful,” warning that failure to act would lead her to personally pursue the matter. She also asked the public for help in identifying Emmanuel Davies or anyone connected to Lagos Sound.

This incident comes shortly after another unresolved dispute she referenced involving someone named Anwuli, suggesting a troubling pattern of creators attempting to exploit her work.

The situation has caused a debate amongst many fans and fellow creators questioning YouTube’s copyright enforcement process.

A major concern raised is how a platform can restrict or demonetize a creator’s work based on a third-party claim without immediate verification of original ownership.

Many argue that this system leaves creators vulnerable, especially in cases where false claims are made in bad faith.

Beyond “Where Love Lives,” this issue highlights a growing problem in the digital creative space: copyright abuse. As more filmmakers and artists turn to YouTube and streaming platforms to distribute their work, false ownership claims can threaten income, visibility, and creative control.

For Bimbo Ademoye, this isn’t just about views or money, it’s about protecting ownership, effort, and integrity.

As of now, fans are closely watching to see whether Emmanuel Davies responds and lifts the claim. The incident has also renewed calls for YouTube and other platforms to strengthen their verification processes and better protect original creators.

Bimbo Ademoye has drawn a firm line, and the conversation around digital copyright protection in Nollywood is far from over.
