In a candid conversation shared during a recent interview, Don Jazzy admitted that the split left him emotionally drained and uncertain about his future in the entertainment industry. He explained that the sudden end of the label, which had dominated the Nigerian music scene with hits like “Oliver Twist” and “Suddenly,” forced him to rethink his passion for production and leadership.

“After Mo’ Hits ended, I was really broken,” he confessed. “I didn’t see myself continuing in music. It felt like everything I had worked for was gone overnight.”

Don Jazzy said that it took deep reflection and encouragement from close friends and family for him to regain his motivation. He credited the support of his team and fans for helping him rebuild his confidence and later establish Mavin Records, which has since grown into one of Africa’s biggest record labels.

From Mo’ Hits to Mavin: A New Beginning

Reflecting on his journey, Don Jazzy described the transition from Mo’ Hits to Mavin as one of the most defining moments of his career. He said that despite the pain of losing a successful partnership, he knew he had to move forward and create a platform that could nurture new talent.

“When Mo’ Hits ended, I thought that was it for me. But I realized music is all I know and love,” he said. “So, I decided to start again, this time with lessons learned.”

The producer’s honesty struck a chord with fans and fellow musicians, many of whom praised his resilience and humility. Social media platforms have since been flooded with old clips of Mo’ Hits classics, as fans reminisce about the era that defined a generation of Afrobeats.

Today, Mavin Records is home to chart-topping stars like Ayra Starr, Rema, and Ladipoe, cementing Don Jazzy’s legacy as one of Africa’s most influential music executives.

Despite the challenges, he said he remains grateful for every chapter of his journey  both the successes and the setbacks because they shaped the man he is today.
