The global tourism body UN Tourism has confirmed a major collaboration with the Eko Tourism Foundation (ETF) to establish a Tourism Academy in Lagos. The announcement came after a meeting between UN Tourism Secretary-General Zurab Pololikashvili and ETF leadership, led by Alhaji Lai Mohammed.

The new academy will aim to build human capacity in Nigeriaโs hospitality and tourism sectors. It is part of ETFโs broader plan to position Lagos as a top tourism destination in Africa. The academy will deliver using both vocational training and managerial instruction, focused on creating opportunities for Nigerian youth.
What the Lagos Tourism Academy will offer

Between ages 16 and 35, up to 65,000 youths are expected to benefit from the training over the coming five years. Courses will cover areas such as hospitality management, customer service, event planning, light and sound design, script writing, and animation. Private sector partners and organisations like TAFTA (Terra Academy for the Arts) will support delivery and technical skills instruction.
ETF has already unveiled its human capacity development programme through the ETF Academy, which is central to the vision of the Foundation. The Tourism Academy in Lagos is expected to be part of that programme.
