At the New Media Conference (NMC 2025) in Lagos, MTN Nigeria’s PR Manager, Lakinbofa Goodluck, argued that media disruption across Africa is tightly linked to connectivity and digital inclusion. He said telecom infrastructure is now the backbone of content creation and distribution. He emphasized that reliable networks empower creators to publish content faster and reach wider audiences. 

Goodluck also acknowledged existing challenges: bandwidth costs, power unreliability, and frequent vandalism of fibre cables. His remarks remind us that media evolution in Africa depends on both innovation and infrastructure.

A shocking tragedy unfolded in Abuja as Somtochukwu Christelle “Sommie” Maduagwu, ARISE TV anchor and media personality, died after a robbery at her residence. 

According to authorities, robbers gained access to her apartment in the Gishiri–Katampe area. Maduagwu tried to escape by jumping from the third floor but was gravely injured. She was rushed to Maitama General Hospital but later passed away.  ARISE News confirmed her death, remembering her commitment to journalism, women’s rights, and her lively presence on air.
