Olivia Hussey, best known for her role as Juliet in Franco Zeffirelli’s 1968 Romeo and Juliet, has died at 73.
Her family described her as a “remarkable person” in a statement on Instagram.
Hussey, born in Buenos Aires in 1951, was just 15 when she starred in the Oscar-winning film, earning a Golden Globe for her performance.
She later appeared in notable films like Black Christmas (1974) and Death on the Nile (1978).
In 2023, she and co-star Leonard Whiting filed a lawsuit over a controversial nude scene in Romeo and Juliet, though the case was dismissed.
Hussey defended the scene, emphasizing the professionalism they brought to their roles.
She is survived by her husband, musician David Eisley, three children, and a grandchild.
