The Lagos State Government has trained 450 revenue officers in the use of the Lagos Revenue Portal (LRP) and its AI-powered chatbot, Madam Shikini, as part of its efforts to achieve its 2025 revenue targets.
Organized by the Office of the Special Adviser on Taxation and Revenue, the training brought together participants from over 100 revenue-generating Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs).
Ogungbo Opeyemi, the Special Adviser on Taxation and Revenue, praised the participants, calling Lagos Stateโs civil servants โChampionsโ for their commitment to driving revenue growth.
โOur achievements in revenue generation would not have been possible without your dedication and hard work,โ he said.
Opeyemi also highlighted the launch of the Lagos Revenue Portal in August 2024 by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, describing it as a game-changer for the state’s revenue collection.
The governor has mandated all revenue-generating MDAs to integrate with the LRP, establishing it as a โone-stop-shopโ for revenue activities.
Opeyemi noted that the introduction of the Unique Payer ID is a key element of the reforms, enabling secure and transparent tracking of revenue transactions.
Speaking at the sidelines, Akintayo Sanwo-Olu, Special Adviser to the Governor on Corporate Finance and Strategy, emphasized the importance of tax compliance and reforms.
He urged civil servants and citizens alike to meet their tax obligations to bolster the stateโs financial sustainability.
โThis training ensures that everyone within the administration understands their role in achieving revenue targets and maximizing the budgetโs potential,โ he said.
The initiative underscores Lagos Stateโs commitment to modernizing its tax system through technology, aligning with its vision for long-term revenue growth and financial transparency.
