Nigerian rapper Reminisce has expressed concern over the growing influence of money in determining hit songs, arguing that good music alone is no longer enough to guarantee success.
Speaking on the I Said What I Said podcast, the rapper highlighted how the music industry has shifted focus, with large marketing budgets now playing a key role in a song’s popularity.
“The game has changed to another phase,” he said. “The phase where you now have to spend money to get hits.
Money now produces hits, not music anymore. Whatever song you see popping, go ask what the marketing budget was. That’s what determines how big a song is. It’s no longer just about the music.”

His remarks reflect the challenges faced by artists navigating a market where financial investment often outweighs creative talent.
