Canadian music legend nicknamed the Queen of Power Ballads, Celine Dion, has further fuelled rumours of a performance at the upcoming opening ceremony of the 2024 Olympics in Paris, France.
There have been rumours in the media and internet that the Canadian songstress would take the stage during Friday’s Olympic opening ceremony in Paris, 2024.
The new speculations follow her recent appearance at the Royal Monceau Hotel in Paris.
Posting pictures of herself in Paris on Instagram, Celine wrote, “Every time I return to Paris, I remember there’s so much beauty and joy still to experience in the world. I love Paris, and I’m so happy to be back. Thank you to our wonderful friends at the Louvre! – Celine xx”.
A performance “is within the realm of possibility,” according to Amélie Oudéa, France’s minister of sports, who made the statement to French television France 2 last month.
On Tuesday, July 23, 2024, Celine Dion was seen waving to fans in Paris, which further fuelled speculation that she may make a surprise appearance at the 2024 Olympics opening ceremony.
According to TMZ, the singer will receive $2 million for her appearance at the Friday, July 26, 2024, Olympic opening ceremony in Paris.
Recall that the 56-year-old singer had taken a hiatus from performing and public appearances after receiving a December 2022 diagnosis of an uncommon neurological condition known as Stiff Person Syndrome (SPS).
Nonetheless, she attended the 2024 Grammy Awards ceremony, marking her first public appearance since receiving the diagnosis.
Celine Dion is no newcomer to the Olympics as she performed her hit song “The Power of the Dream” at the1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta.
