The Group Managing Director of NNPCL has come online to disclaim the assertion made by Dangote that certain individuals were operating a blending plant in Malta to scuttle his delivery capacity.
The NNPCL director taking to his X page said, “I am inundated by inquiries from family members, friends, and associates on the public declaration by the President of the Dangote Group that some NNPC workers have established a blending plant in Malta thereby impeding procurements from local production of Petroleum products”.
Mele Kyari opined that he did not own any business anywhere in the world except a local agricultural venture. He also pressed that he wasn’t aware of any individual in the NNPCL who is part of the said arrangement in Malta.
He said “ To clarify the allegations regarding the blending plant, I do not own or operate any business directly or by proxy anywhere in the world except a local mini Agric venture. Neither am I aware of any employee of the NNPC, that owns or operates a blending plant in Malta or anywhere else in the world”.
He further said that a blending plant in Malta or any part of the world does not influence NNPC’s business operations and strategic actions.
The NNPCL boss went further to recommend that any NNPC employee who is part of any such venture will be made known to the relevant authorities for sanctions and the name made public.
He said, “I strongly recommend that such individuals be declared public and be made known to relevant government security agencies for necessary actions given the grave implications for national energy security”.
The Dangote refinery saga started when NMDPRA Boss Farouk Ahmed disclosed to press men that the Dangote refinery was only 45% completed, monopolistic, and was yet to be licensed. He also mentioned the high sulfur content in the products. In a war of words, Dangote took to the media and denied the claims saying products from his refinery were way better than the authorities were claiming.
