The head of NIPOST, Ms. Tola Odeyemi, announced a plan to make NIPOST better and cheaper. They aim to modernize half of their offices (around 700!) by 2027.
Ms. Odeyemi spoke at a business event in Lagos and said NIPOST is working hard to improve delivery services across Nigeria, making them faster and on par with the best in the world.
She also mentioned some good things that have happened since she started her role. NIPOST has made their delivery network more efficient, adjusted prices slightly to be more affordable, and cleared up a backlog of mail.
Here’s the important part: NIPOST isn’t trying to compete with private delivery companies. They see themselves as the final step in getting things delivered, especially to those in harder-to-reach areas.
Ms. Odeyemi mentioned some partnerships. They’re working with a government agency to offer special rates for small businesses, and they’re doing a pilot program with another agency to help collect health samples in two states.
Overall, Ms. Odeyemi wants NIPOST to work with others to build a strong delivery system in Nigeria – one that’s fast, reliable, safe, and helps businesses and the economy grow.
